Calling All Civic-Minded Geeks!
Think your city could be better? Be it Islamabad or Rawalpindi, we have civic problems and opportunities! Do you have ideas about how to fix things? Do you like working with other intelligent people? Have skills like web or mobile development, design, mapping, data analysis, research?  Or subject matter expertise in the civic space? Want to innovate on top of government information and services? Come apply your geek or creative skills to transforming your city for the better.
Announcing Islamabad Civic Hackathon 2016!

Join us in Islamabad the weekend of July 16-17 and learn how your tech, creative, and problem solving skills can transform your city. The Civic Hackathon will be a 2-day event (Saturday and Sunday). During this weekend, you will learn design thinking, open-source hacking for civic good, and you will get mentored, receive input from domain experts in government and local organizations, have opportunities to network, and work in teams to create civic solutions — all for free, thanks to our sponsors.

You will form teams to create prototypes that address civic problems. All you need to do is bring your brain, skills, and enthusiasm!

Like last year, the 2nd Annual Islamabad Civic Hackathon will bring together programmers, designers, urban mappers, data analysts, community organizers, researchers, journalists, and government information to reboot local services by creating open source web, mobile, and SMS applications. Imagine a peace corps of geeks for civic betterment. Our tracks for this year’s Civic Hackathon include Education, Health,  Poverty & Development, Social Change, and Sustainable City. Some of the problem statements will be from government and local organizations for Islamabad and Rawalpindi specific solutions. You are also welcome to submit your own ideas.

Participation in the Civic Hackathon is FREE, but while we’d love to include everyone, space and logistical constraints mean that admission is open only to those accepted from the pool of applicants. So apply now before space runs out! Application Deadline: July 3, 2016.

If you are interested in being a Mentor or Partner at the event, please send us an email by July 3rd at islamabad@codeforpakistan.org .

The Islamabad Civic Hackathon is brought to you by Code for Pakistan and its Islamabad Civic Innovation Lab, a joint program with OPEN Islamabad.
